2^nd prize at the architectural competition for the ‘Reuse and Extension of the Social Insurance Building’ in Nicosia.

The existing Social Insurance building is listed as an example of late modernist architecture in Cyprus. The design task was to add office space while at the same time preserving the historical characteristics of the existing building.  We proposed the new addition to fit in the site as an ‘L’ shape that completes a rectangular footprint and leaves an atrium in the middle as an ‘essential void’ around which the ‘new-old’ complex will function.
